Brno - The Brno City Hall made a mistake during negotiations with Jundrov regarding the proposal for updating the zoning plan, the Brno Green Party pointed out today. According to the mayor of the district, Ivana Fajnorová (SZ), the municipal commission promised during the negotiation process with the leadership of the district that it would maintain the floor area index in the area under Dubová at its current level. However, it presented materials to the city council with an increase. According to city hall spokesperson Pavel Žára, it was a printing error and the city will rectify it. "The city hall proposes to raise the floor area index in the area under Dubová from 0.4 to 0.9 in the update of the zoning plan. This would allow for the construction of not just two-story houses, but even four-story and possibly five-story buildings," Fajnorová stated. This is precisely why the district submitted a comment that the city hall had to address. A five-member team of representatives led by Deputy Mayor Ladislav Macek (ČSSD) negotiated with Jundrov and other city districts regarding the comments. "The commission assured us that our comment would be accommodated and that the floor area index would remain at 0.4. We did not receive any minutes, but we considered it a settled matter," Fajnorová said. However, according to her, the index was increased to 0.9 in the city council documents. "It was a surprise for us. All seven negotiating on behalf of our district believed that nothing would change, but suddenly we had no record in hand indicating that our comment would be taken into account," Fajnorová said. "There was a printing error in the transfer of the resolution. The recommendation of the working group was to accommodate the district and maintain the floor area index at 0.4," informed city hall spokesman Žára to ČTK. He added that the city would rectify the issue. The update of the 20-year-old zoning plan has already caused outrage among the residents of Brno, city districts, and activists in the past. Particularly, civic initiatives and opposition representatives from the Green Party in Brno objected to the change allowing for the construction of taller buildings or the possibility of building shops in green areas. However, the city hall has rejected such claims from the beginning, explaining that the update is merely a response to the city's development.
