Brno - The Brno City Hall has introduced a new service in the form of consulting in the field of urban planning, said city hall spokesman Pavel Žára today to ČTK. Dedicated staff at the new contact center will advise people on preparing construction on their own property and in similar matters. According to the mayor's deputy Martin Ander (Green Party), who is responsible for urban planning, the new service aims to help people navigate complex laws. Interested parties can come for advice at the office located at Kounicova Street 67 on Mondays and Wednesdays from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, or on Fridays from 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM. Inquiries can also be made via email and phone. "The numbers are 542 174 143 or 542 174 585," added Žára. Contacts including emails are listed on the city hall's website in the city administration section, under development, and in the urban planning and development department. "The new office is available to anyone who wants advice on how to proceed with the construction of a family house, cottage, or other buildings on their own property. The clerks will advise on how to understand urban planning documentation and how to proceed efficiently regarding requests for changes," stated Žára. According to Ander, many people turn to the city hall who do not know how to proceed. "Laws in the field of urban planning and construction are complex and unclear. As a result of court decisions, the situation has often changed even in Brno. It is no wonder that people turn to us with questions about how to handle things. That is why we established a new contact point for them," added Ander. Brno is currently governed by an urban plan that is more than 20 years old. Although city representatives approved its update last June, it was annulled by a court this January because some decisions were not justified. The city does not want to develop a new urban plan until the Guidelines for Urban Development of the South Moravian Region are completed. The regional urban planning document was annulled by the Supreme Administrative Court in 2012.
