Prague - The leadership of Prague is recalling the appointed director of the Institute of Planning and Development (IPR) Tomáš Ctibor. This decision was made at today’s meeting of the Prague councilors. The reason is that he failed to incorporate comments on the Prague building regulations. This was stated to journalists today by the Deputy Mayor Matěj Stropnický (SZ). "The council has revoked the authorization for Tomáš Ctibor, effective at the end of 2014," said Stropnický. Based on the council's decision, architect Pavla Melková will lead the IPR starting January 1, 2015. She has previously served as the director of the public space office at the IPR. Subsequently, the city intends to announce a proper tender. The Prague building regulations were recently criticized by the Ministry for Regional Development, which requested their correction. Prague has not yet made these corrections. "The preparation of the regulations was poorly managed. We received a deadline from the ministry to incorporate the comments, which should have been integrated throughout the process," said Stropnický. The Prague building regulations, which are implementing regulations for the building law, were approved by the council under former mayor Tomáš Hudeček in July and came into effect in October. In the past, there has been discussion around them, especially regarding the ban on advertising over six square meters. The IPR was established as a transformation of the City Development Authority under Mayor Tomáš Hudeček. The institute is tasked with preparing a new territorial plan and planning the development of the city. The IPR's budget is in the range of several hundred million crowns annually.
