Brno will receive a grant from the National Sports Agency for the construction of a multifunctional hall

Brno – Brno will receive a grant from the National Sports Agency for the construction of a multifunctional hall at the exhibition grounds. It is the first project to meet all conditions, said agency spokesman Jakub Večerka in a press release. The city requested 300 million crowns. The decision on the total amount of the grant will take place after the contractor is selected. The hall, estimated to cost up to four billion, will offer space for 13,000 people.

According to Večerka, the project was the first to meet all the conditions from the call for funding for the Cross-Regional Sports Infrastructure, and it was also successful in terms of assessment by an external expert regarding the 3E conditions, namely efficiency, economy, and purposefulness. "The multifunctional hall project in Brno is very well prepared and has passed all necessary checks to obtain the grant. We are now just waiting for the city to select the construction contractor and provide a construction schedule including the awarded prices," said Večerka.

It is precisely after the delivery of the schedule and prices that the decision regarding the total amount of the grant will be made. There is 900 million in the program, and one applicant can receive a maximum of 300 million. According to Brno’s mayor Vaňková, everything could happen within weeks. "We welcome the agency's decision. We waited a long time and are glad that it ended with a positive result. I hope that after submitting the necessary documents, we will be granted the full amount of 300 million crowns," said Vaňková.

The hall will provide facilities for organizing sports, cultural, and conference events. The capacity will be around 13,000 spectators. The building is expected to have two underground and six above-ground floors and will offer 150 covered parking spaces. In total, approximately 1,300 parking spaces should be created due to the hall. Facilities for matches, for example, are expected to be found by the hockey team Kometa. However, according to the city, the building will have 30 different uses.
