Brno - Brno will build a recreational wellness zone at the Lužánky Municipal Swimming Stadium next year. It will cost 15.5 million koruna. The mayor's deputy, Petr Hladík (KDU-ČSL), told journalists today. The stadium has a fifty-meter pool. The city plans to build a twenty-five-meter pool there and aims to construct a water park nearby in the future, estimated to cost half a billion.

The council has approved the announcement of a tender for the wellness zone. Work should begin next February and finish in June. According to Hladík, previous renovations of the changing rooms freed up space under the stands where the recreational area will be created. "It will include two steam cabins, a bio sauna, a Finnish sauna, experience showers, a cooling bucket, a whirlpool, and a cooling pool with a relaxation area on the existing western terrace," Hladík stated.

Next year, the city plans to build a pool half the length, approximately for 60 million koruna, next to the fifty-meter pool to host competitions. There are also plans for a water park costing half a billion, which would connect to the fifty-meter pool. The only water park in Brno is in Kohoutovice, which does not meet the demand due to its capacity.

In Lužánky, there should be space for many sports in the future. The city plans to construct a football stadium on the site of the old one, which has been empty and deteriorating since the beginning of the millennium. With the help of a private investor, an ice hockey arena for the Kometa Brno club should also be built there.
