Betonepox® after 10 years: What does the floor look like today?

In 2014, a significant reconstruction of the Church of the Holy Family in České Budějovice took place. The project was realized according to the design of architect Josef Pleskot. Part of this transformation of the church from the late 19th century was a new floor that had to meet several essential requirements – to aesthetically match the original architecture, withstand high loads, and at the same time be low-maintenance.
For this project, the surface Betonepox® Soft was chosen, an epoxy screed with a finely velvety texture. Our task was its professional application and tuning of the shade so that the floor naturally blended into the historical space of the church while meeting high durability demands.

Still unchanged after ten years

Churches are among the spaces with high foot traffic, and the floor here faces intense load. Additionally, it is a historic building where humidity and temperature fluctuate, which can cause gradual wear on some materials. After ten years of operation, we returned to see how Betonepox® performed under real conditions.

The result? The surface retained its original appearance and functionality, and there were evidently no visible changes. We noted only a single scratch on the floor, likely caused by a heavy object dragged across the surface – presumably with a small stone stuck underneath. Such damage would also occur on any other material. The fine texture of the screed otherwise remained intact, and the floor still presents an elegant and harmonious impression in the context of the historic interior.

Advantages proven in practice

When selecting the material, it was crucial to find one that would endure without the need for renovation for several years. Betonepox® proved to be an excellent choice due to its properties:

  • High durability – even after ten years in operation with no visible signs of wear.
  • Seamless surface – no joints mean easier maintenance and a clean appearance.
  • Color fastness – no changes in shade or fading.
  • Elegant appearance – the fine texture adds elegance to the surface and harmoniously fits into the historical interior.
The project of the Church of the Holy Family in České Budějovice is proof that epoxy screeds are not just a solution for modern interiors but can also work excellently in historic spaces where aesthetics, durability, and minimal maintenance are emphasized.

Even after ten years of intense operation, the Betonepox® screed has proven to be the right choice – the surface remained intact with no need for repairs or major interventions, confirming its long lifespan even in demanding conditions.

If you are looking for a surface that will stand the test of time even after many years of intensive operation, Betonepox® may be the ideal solution for your project.
