Brno - The principles of territorial development in the South Moravian Region will come into effect at the beginning of November. Governor Michal Hašek (CSSD) today signed a public notice concerning the recently issued document, which is expected to appear on the regional official board today. It will take effect fifteen days after being posted, said the region's spokesperson Eliška Windová to ČTK. The principles were approved by the assembly at the beginning of October, two days before the elections.

According to Windová, the notice will be posted not only on the regional official board, but also on the official boards of municipal offices in the municipalities to which the measures of general nature apply. Hašek described the issuance of the principles as more important for the future of the region than the budget for the calendar year. Significant roads that are pending realization have not been able to be built until now.

"It is a strategic document that Southern Moravia has lacked in recent years based on the decision of the Supreme Administrative Court. The outgoing regional coalition did the maximum for the preparation of the principles, and that was successful,"
added the outgoing governor Hašek. Projects such as the highway from Brno to Vienna or the bypasses of Břeclav, Znojmo, and Mikulov, as well as D55 between Břeclav, Hodonín, and Zlín Region, will be able to continue.

The Supreme Administrative Court annulled the previous principles in 2012 due to insufficient impact assessment on the environment. It did so at the request of several municipalities and individuals. Critics of the principles have also emerged this time. They are concerned that some routes in Brno and its surroundings remain in territorial reserves, which means they are not finalized in the documentation. However, they should be completed within three years.

According to Hašek, the new coalition has three years to negotiate with Brno and the surrounding municipalities. "I believe in a reasonable agreement. It is in no one's interest for the area to stagnate and wait more than three years for the definition of corridors along which significant constructions will proceed. In the rest of the region, the last obstacle will be removed so that the state can plan significant transport constructions as an investor," added Hašek.
