Most - In the Most housing estate of Chanov, mostly inhabited by Roma, a petition has been created against the construction of container housing. The city wants to have modular houses built in the estate. Several devastated panel houses in the area have already been demolished. The authors of the petition will be collecting signatures until the end of the month. Ján Chromý from Chanov said this to ČTK today.

The project for the modular houses is completed, and the city representatives want to present the visualization to the citizens. After construction was completed in the late 80s of the last century, the estate had 13 houses; today there are nine, and one more will be removed. The apartments in the panel houses belong to the city.

The aim of the petition is to stop the construction of modular houses. "The main reason is the fear of the expansion of the ghetto in the Chanov estate," the petition states. According to Chromý, people are afraid that the city will relocate problematic residents from all over the city into the houses. According to Chromý, there are 70 signatures under the petition as of today. "We would rather see young people participating in the repair of apartments in blocks 6, 10, and part of block 5. They were born into Chanov as we all know it and have not contributed to the devastation of the estate, therefore they do not deserve to bear the burden of collective guilt," said Chromý.

The authors of the petition want to gather around 2000 signatures and subsequently hand the petition sheets to the city representatives.
