Prague - The Ministry for Regional Development (MMR) plans to digitize building and zoning procedures. Their participants could track the status of their applications online. This was discussed by Deputy Minister Miroslav Kalous at today’s meeting of heads of design firms. The exact date for digitization has not yet been set by the department. "We have prepared and would like to implement the digitization of building offices, building and zoning procedures according to the building act," stated Deputy Kalous. An applicant for the issuance of any opinion or decision would thus be able to track their application in real time, where it is located and in what phase it is. The system would also inform them of the reasons for receiving or not receiving a particular decision. According to the MMR, this would also standardize decision-making practices and the department could better provide methodological support, especially to the smallest building offices. "It will open all processes occurring to all participants in the building procedure and give them the opportunity to 'take care of themselves' by being able to see what phase their application is in," noted Kalous, who believes digitization will benefit investors, builders, designers, and officials.
