Jihlava - Jihlava will purchase a building with land near the Horácký Winter Stadium, which is preparing for reconstruction. The purchase of the property for 20 million crowns was approved by the city council on Tuesday. Thus, the city will acquire land important for the revitalization of the area, which will also be partially used for the construction of the Horácká multifunctional arena, said councilor David Beke (ODS) in a press release today. The winning architectural designs for the new arena will be published on October 2.
The building, with one underground and three above-ground floors, adjoining the stadium complex, was according to the city's website built in the 1990s. It is a plot of land over 500 square meters. The building is referred to as a gym because athletes had recovery facilities in it. Today, it contains social spaces with a bar, a pub, and accommodation.
"The property was subject to enforcement due to the financial problems of the current owner. The current claims of creditors, who have a lien on the property, amount to more than 38 million crowns," Beke stated. According to him, the purchase price was negotiated with the creditors through the insolvency administrator. "Before the sale, all liens on the property will be deleted," the councilor added.
The Horácký Stadium, where the Dukla hockey club plays its home games, was officially opened at the end of 1955. The lifespan of its roofing will soon end. The sports facility and the club belong to the city. The intention to build a multifunctional hall was approved by the Jihlava city council last December. It is a construction project with anticipated costs of around 750 million crowns. The city hall announced an architectural competition for it in April, and the results should be approved by the city council on Thursday.
