Jihlava - The roof replacement of the Horácký Winter Stadium will be delayed by a year due to a lack of interest from companies. Work is expected to begin at the earliest at the beginning of 2020. The city originally wanted to accelerate the project by awarding the contract to a company that would carry out the work including the designs, but no one applied for the contract. The city council agreed today to prepare a new tender only for a designer. However, the decision on its assignment can only be made by the newly elected council. This was stated by the Deputy Mayor Radek Popelka (ANO) to reporters today. "Since the whole process is initiated based on a resolution of the council, only the council can change its resolution and decide on the next steps," said Popelka. According to the latest structural assessment, the municipal stadium, where the Dukla hockey club plays, can be operated with its current roofing only until the end of the season in late 2019 and early 2020.
Due to a lack of interest from builders, it has not been possible to start several construction projects in Jihlava this year. In Na Dolech Street, where trains, buses, and trolleybuses stop, the city is preparing to build a small terminal with facilities for passengers and public transport drivers. The city hall has not been able to select a contractor for the project worth several million crowns on two occasions. Once, no one applied, and the second time there was one interested party that, according to the city, offered an unreasonably high price.
"Today we approved the parameters and will go back to tender for the contractor," said Deputy Mayor Jaromír Kalina (KDU-ČSL). In the conditions of the new tender, the city council allowed a reduction in the amount of financial security that companies must leave deposited with the investor during the execution of the contract.
