Brno – The Brno city council today approved four remaining amendments to the draft of the new zoning plan. City Councilor for Urban Planning Filip Chvátal announced this to the press. The plan, with about 50 changes, will be displayed by November 5 at the latest, it will undergo a third public discussion on December 7, and objections to the changes can be submitted until December 14. Brno currently has a zoning plan from 1994, and next year the deadline for the city to have a new one approved will expire.

The amendments were based on requests from city districts and often align with public comments. They pertain to the city districts of Brno-Centrum, Bohunice, Královo Pole, and Líšeň. The first amendment concerned the locality Dvořiště-Vyhlídalova-Lány, which responded to the objections of the city districts Bohunice and Starý Lískovec, as well as to citizen feedback. "Based on their input, green areas are being defined instead of areas for construction. As a result, green space will be expanded close to intensive development," Chvátal stated.

In a similar manner, the city is responding to public comments and the Líšeň city district, thus lowering the height levels of buildings in the Šimáčkova area to the lowest possible. "In Královo Pole, at the site of the Sokol Hall on Srbská, we designate the entire area as protected public utility areas, and the last amendment defines an area for communication in the Brno-Centrum district, which will serve as a new entrance to the planned Špitálka neighborhood," Chvátal said.

Brno needs a new zoning plan to develop. The old zoning plan, despite numerous changes, does not allow for the transformation of some former industrial sites for current needs, primarily for residential construction. The new zoning plan also comprehensively addresses flood protection.
