Brno - The proposal for the new urban plan of Brno includes several well-known planned road constructions, but it also includes some that have not yet appeared in the public domain. This includes, for example, the bypass of Obřany and Maloměřice, which is designed to utilize Kulková street and cut across the Svitava River at the very edge of Obřany, where a railway line also crosses it. This can be inferred from the proposal published on the website.
Initially, the city planned a public discussion on May 6 and the opportunity for comments until May 13. However, after intervention by the Ministry of Interior at the behest of Petr Firbas, who represents part of the public in the discussions, the city has reassessed these deadlines. Mayor Markéta Vaňková (ODS) told CTK that in light of the state of emergency and quarantine, these deadlines will be moved to June, with exact dates not yet known.
The mentioned bypass of the two city districts will utilize Kulková street around the Maloměřice railway station and should be extended further north across the river. It will then run east of Obřany, connecting to the existing road that links Obřany and Bílovice nad Svitavou. Obřany should also be connected to Lesná through a road running approximately along the railway line and connecting to Seifertová street. On the western side, a connector from Lesná is planned to Zaječí hora street in the Kociánka housing estate.
The urban plan continues to account for a complete large city ring road, including the entire eastern and southern segment, which encompasses a tunnel under the Červený kopec from Bauerová to Heršpická and further connections to the planned Bratislavská radial. In part, the new road would utilize the planned cancellation of the railway Komárov connection in the future.
The plan also includes a territorial reserve for road 43, with the entire area of Bystrc and Kníničky being covered. A tunnel should also run around Bosonoh. There are also plans for a highway connector between the D2 and D52 highways south of the current II/152 road, which will continue east around Chrlice as a two-lane road. Further, it is expected to continue to Dvorsk and Šlapanice and connect to the planned southwestern bypass of Šlapanice. This road is intended to relieve a significant portion of traffic from the southeast of Brno.
The plan also includes long-considered bypasses for Bosonohy, Tuřany, and Slatiny, as well as a parallel road with D1 from Šlapanice to Řípská.
There are also plans for smaller connections between some streets, such as Černovická and Průmyslová on Černovická terrace, Bohunická and Ořechovská for better service to the future planned massive construction in Dolní Heršpice, or the connection between Petra Křivky street and Křivánky street from Starý Lískovec to Bosonohy. From Medlánky street in Újezdech, it should also be possible to continue further north up to the Ivanovice Bauhaus.
The so-called southern center is also planned to be developed around the new relocated railway station.
The proposal also includes locations for P+R parking lots. Apart from the two existing ones, there are plans near the Starý Lískovec tram loop, on Kaštanová street, near Drčkova and Holzova streets, at the new railway station, at the intersection of Olomoucká and Ostravská, and at the Královo Pole railway station.
