Pardubice – The city of Pardubice is considering the construction of a community house, where various age groups of people would live. Seniors, students, and young people who have started working should have access to housing there. The plots are located on Husova Street. This was stated by the Deputy Mayor Jakub Rychtecký (Žijeme Pardubice/SOCDEM).

"It will be intended for seniors, there would be a care service. And also, for example, for university students and for young people who would live in starter apartments. They would help seniors. And there is space for a children's group, or rather a kindergarten," said Rychtecký.

The investment is being prepared by the Development Fund Pardubice. According to the deputy, it will be possible to obtain a grant and a favorable state-guaranteed loan for the house. The republic is in a precarious situation, there is no affordable housing, said the deputy.

"We will see if there will be enough money in the state budget for it. It is a motivational tool for municipalities and private investors; unfortunately, the Ministry of Finance is not very willing to release money for this," said Rychtecký.

On Husova Street, there are two municipal apartment buildings that serve as accommodation; since the outbreak of the conflict in Ukraine, Ukrainian refugees have been living there. Before that, the city wanted to modernize the two houses for tens of millions and establish municipal apartments there. The project has been postponed indefinitely due to the ongoing conflict with Russia.

"But we have plots for the construction of community housing next to it. After the approval of the new zoning plan, we would like to have the project ready so we can apply for a building permit for the construction of community housing," said Rychtecký. The city hall expects that the new zoning plan will be approved by the councilors in 2026.

The second project for affordable housing is the proposed construction of an apartment building on K Polabinám Street, where there is a gap in the housing estate on Závodu Míru. The city is designing a zoning study that addresses several projects in the area. Redstone will build a community center and hotel at the site of the former distillery, and ČSOB Insurance would like to build its headquarters on the former site of the Prokop factory.

"And then another private investor wants to build an apartment building there. We need to integrate it all well. Negotiations with investors are underway to ensure everything fits together correctly," said the Deputy Mayor.
