Rakovník - The Rakovník zoning plan has been delayed by the coronavirus epidemic as well as a number of comments and objections. Officials are currently addressing around 150 of them, many of which are very extensive. The city leadership expected the councilors to approve the plan by the middle of this year, but now Mayor Luděk Štíbr anticipates the vote will be more likely at the end of the year. He stated this to ČTK.

The zoning plan specifies the possibilities for the city's development, defines areas where construction is permitted, and areas that must maintain greenery.

Its approval is, for example, a condition for the city to begin modifications of parking areas near the train and bus stations, where there is currently a lack of spaces and dozens more could be added. "The project cannot be carried out if it is in conflict with the existing zoning plan," said the mayor.

Conversely, the areas near the hospital will be partially designated as greenery in the new zoning plan, where construction will not be possible; however, this does not affect the construction of residential buildings near the hospital complex, for which zoning decisions have already been issued.

The current Rakovník zoning plan is more than twenty years old and is not digitized. The new plan has already been publicly discussed twice, but it is necessary to address the objections and comments, some of which are over twenty pages long. Of the four office workers responsible for zoning planning, only one clerk remained during the epidemic, while the others were at home with children, temporarily in quarantine, and so on.
