Lanškroun - Lanškroun in the Orlickoústecko region will begin an extensive renovation of the natural swimming area in the coming days. This includes the construction of a dam and a natural swimming biotope. The construction will bring restrictions for visitors to the area, the town hall stated in a press release.
"The aim of the project is to create a modern, nature-friendly swimming area that will offer greater comfort to visitors while being sensitively integrated into the landscape. The actual construction of the dam and biotope will begin immediately after the selection of the contractor. The contractor could be known by the end of spring," the town stated.
Due to the construction work, it will be necessary to close the swimming area; it will not be accessible. It will not be possible to walk along the swimming area either, as the construction company will be building a cycling path there. The area will still be accessible from the other side of Long Pond. "After the cycling path is completed, which is planned for late April or early May, it will be newly possible to safely walk directly along the area," the town hall stated.
During the preparatory construction phase, workers will relocate play elements and other furnishings from the area to playgrounds in the Gladiator location, Lanškrouňáček, and other sites near the Lanškroun ponds. Strengthening elements will find their new place in the city’s sports area.
At the same time, planned tree felling will take place. "The new planting will bring a diverse composition of trees, shrubs, and plants to the area. The existing mature trees will be supplemented with young maples, linden trees, bird cherries, ashes, and plums. Over 200 pieces of common hornbeam saplings will then form a hedge, and nearly 600 bushes will be added," the town stated.
The biotope swimming area will be the main investment of this year, costing 128 million crowns. The town hall has allocated 60 million for the biotope this year, and work on the swimming area will last until 2026.
