Příbram - Příbram city councillors today approved the plan for the complete reconstruction of the aquapark. Due to the repairs needed for the facility, which primarily suffers from outdated technologies, the city will likely take out a loan.
The city management presented a document to the council that estimated the planned investment at 100 million crowns. However, in the discussion, the prevailing opinion was that at this stage, it would be better not to commit to a specific amount, as it is only a rough estimate. Deputy Mayor Václav Švenda (TOP 09) stated that this amount was meant to be a kind of "kick-off" to show that it is an initiative that extends beyond one electoral term. "I just wanted us to realize the value of the total reconstruction," he said. Ultimately, however, the coalition did not insist on quantifying the investment and removed the amount from the document.
The city hall cannot cover everything from its budget. The funds set aside for this year's shower repairs would be used for preparing project documentation and all necessary assessments. Most of the work would likely be financed through a loan. Banks, according to Švenda, are offering the city advantageous rates ranging from zero to 0.4 percent.
The reconstruction should primarily focus on the indoor pool. If any funds remain, they would also be invested in the outdoor swimming area.
