Příbram selected a design office for the construction of a swimming pool

Příbram – Příbram has selected a company that will prepare the architectural study and documentation for the building permit for a new swimming pool. Two candidates applied for the competition, and Atelier 99 won with a bid of 7.2 million crowns excluding VAT, Deputy Mayor Miroslav Peterka (ODS) said today to journalists. Construction is planned to take place on the site of the current outdoor pool. According to Mayor Jan Konvalinka (for ANO), the city council aims to have the entire project ready by 2026 at the latest and to have selected a construction company that will build the pool under a design & build regime (design and build).

"Our goal is to have everything under contract by the end of 2026 at the latest. If the implementation starts, it will be a great benefit," added Konvalinka.

In the past, the city council struggled to find a company to repair the deteriorating aquapark. Therefore, it decided to look for other solutions. Councilors had previously agreed to the possibility of building a new swimming pool on the site of the current outdoor pool and to use the existing aquapark building for other purposes, such as converting it into a multifunctional hall. The cost of constructing the pool is estimated to be 289 million excluding VAT, which is nearly 350 million crowns including tax, and does not include investment in the existing aquapark building.

Příbram has been working on the project for several years. According to the opposition, the new aquapark should have been operational long ago. The mayor argued that the city hall faced a large number of inquiries from potential suppliers, which it had to respond to. At the same time, he stated that they were trying to prepare the contract as well as possible.
