Mladá Boleslav - The Mladá Boleslav Clinic Dr. Pírka is building a new one-day surgery pavilion, which will include 40 post-operative care beds, two operating rooms, and recovery rooms. The healthcare group Penta Hospitals, which took over the clinic last December, is investing 200 million crowns in the construction of the pavilion. The opening is planned for autumn 2026, the group announced today in a press release.

The building is designed in a comprehensive care concept that the group intends to gradually utilize in its other healthcare facilities as well. This is intended to provide patients with improved continuity in their treatment steps. "Instead of being able to continue their treatment effectively, patients have to search complicatedly for doctors and facilities for subsequent steps. We want to change that and offer patients comprehensive care in Penta Hospitals facilities, from addressing the acute phase, through post-operative care, to rehabilitation or home healthcare," said the CEO of Penta Hospitals CZ, Barbora Vaculíková.

The beds are primarily to serve one-day surgery and, if necessary, other departments of the clinic. "Thanks to the new capacity, we will be able to increase not only the number of procedures in the area of one-day surgery but also acquire the possibility to expand their offerings in the future," said the clinic's director, Pavel Kožený.

Construction work began last year, and the building will include an underground parking lot. The construction contractor is the Czech representation of the Polish construction company BPBP from Mladá Boleslav. The building will functionally and visually connect to the existing complex, and the project author is architect Martin Rajniš, who also designed the current outpatient building and the magnetic resonance building.

The clinic focuses on orthopedics, surgery, and hand surgery. It currently has 60 beds and six operating rooms, and medical staff successfully perform around 5,000 surgeries per year. The facility is the first in the Czech Republic to begin robot-assisted knee joint surgeries. Since March, the clinic has been a training center for robot-assisted knee surgeries for all of Central Europe.

Another hospital facility in the region is the Klaudián Hospital in Mladá Boleslav, established by the Central Bohemian Region. It also offers one-day care, but contributes minimally to the overall volume of care. The most one-day care procedures are performed by doctors in the ENT department and on gynecology, said the hospital spokesperson Jana Petrová in response to a query from ČTK.
