Příbram – The reconstruction of the Příbram aquapark, which has been in preparation for several years, will likely cost more than the city had previously anticipated. On Monday, the councilors will discuss raising the maximum offered price to 350 million crowns excluding VAT. The city leadership was prompted to make this proposal by the results of preliminary market consultations, said city hall spokesperson Eva Švehlová to ČTK today. According to a proposal discussed by the councilors two years ago, the reconstruction was estimated to cost 258 million crowns excluding tax.

In the past, the city halted work on the preparation of the reconstruction in its most extensive variant. According to Mayor Jan Konvalinka (for ANO), the project had ballooned too much and its price would exceed half a billion crowns, which would be irresponsible according to the mayor. Therefore, the councilors decided to reduce the maximum price. However, the situation was complicated by rising construction costs, with the city last year estimating the project's cost at 309 million crowns excluding VAT.

Konvalinka reminded that the reconstruction of the aquapark has been planned for several years, and the original "large" project had to be adjusted. Public comments were also addressed, and preliminary market consultations were conducted. According to them, it is now necessary to increase the limit amount for which bids should be submitted for reconstruction.

"The councilors will discuss this increase at their meeting on Monday, with a proposal of 350 million crowns," stated Konvalinka. Following this, the announcement of the tender should take place so that the reconstruction can begin as soon as possible.

According to the leadership of Příbram, the aquapark is in a state where its reconstruction cannot be postponed any further. "Based on the report from the Director of Sports Facilities Příbram, it is clear that without a prepared reconstruction, the aquapark cannot continue to be operated. The number of necessary repairs is constantly increasing, and the repairs are becoming increasingly complex, which is also reflected in the economic aspect," warned Konvalinka. He added that the reconstruction project has been adjusted, all necessary permits have been issued, and the last step is the announcement of the tender for the construction contractor.
