What is life like in the revitalized tower block in the suburbs of Paris, and what kind of schools is Herman Hertzberger building in the Netherlands? What happens when a documentary team films an international architectural competition that includes the most prestigious studios in the world? What was the architect Le Corbusier like, and what does the city he designed in India look like? Who are the most famous architectural photographers, and which films entertain and inspire Adam Gebrian?

Come find out at the sixth edition of the Film and Architecture festival, which takes place 30. 9. ˗̶ 4. 10. 2017 in Prague, Brno, and selected regions.

As a festival warm-up, we will present in the Prague space CAMP Built to last - Relics of Socialist Architecture. This documentary project is a series of short films about Soviet architecture. We will screen it on 29. 9. from 19:00. Admission to the documentary is free.

The biggest attraction of the sixth edition is the long-awaited film REM about one of the most significant architects of our time, Rem Koolhaas, made by his son Tomas. It will have its Czech premiere at the Světozor cinema on 20.9. as a prelude to the Day of Architecture and the Film and Architecture festival. Following the film, there will be a Skype interview with its creator Tomas Koolhaas, led by Adam Gebrian. The documentary premiered last September at the Venice Film Festival. The screening of the film is supported by the Dutch Embassy in Prague.

Another delicacy will be the Spanish film The Competition, which reveals the behind-the-scenes of the architectural competition for the construction of a museum in Andorra and allows a glimpse into the environment of the most renowned architectural studios. From the inspiration of Adam Gebrian, don’t miss the film Big Time, which presents the internationally significant Danish office Bjarke Ingels Group. Among other things, they also developed a design for the National Library for Prague. The main partner of the film is SIPRAL a. s.

The most extensive section of the festival will be dedicated to architectural photographers. Biographical films about photographers Julius Shulman, Lucien Herve, Andreas Gursky, or the Becher couple will be presented. Within the Archi.Kult section, which includes remarkable works from film history known for their architectural and scenic conception, the legendary Kubrick's 2001: A Space Odyssey will be screened.
