Prague - Today and on Sunday, the Day of Architecture takes place in the Czech Republic. The event allows visits to houses and objects that are otherwise inaccessible or unusual, and this year it bears the subtitle Water, People, Cities. Therefore, the organizers focused on presenting buildings somehow connected with water. The festival is held in conjunction with the International Day of Architecture, which falls on the first Monday of October each year.

This year, architecture enthusiasts can look forward to more than 200 events in nearly 70 towns and municipalities across the country. "Guided walks will reveal the forgotten history of places we pass by daily, allow glimpses into the future of cities and their parts, and provide a completely new perspective on our surroundings," promise the organizers. The program includes guided tours, boat trips, cycling tours, discussions, and film screenings.

As part of this year's Day of Architecture, people will be able to learn more about the architecture and buildings of Prague's embankments and riverbanks. A unique experience will also be offered by a boat trip along the Vltava Waterway and the chambers between Lannova Boat House and Hluboká nad Vltavou. Water and architecture enthusiasts can enjoy the opportunity to peek into the unique Water House in Hulice.

The focus will be on industrial architecture in northern Bohemia, where participants will trace the footsteps of textile giants - visiting the factories of the Priebsch family in Smržovka and the Wolf family in Tanvald. Ostrava will guide visitors through the Lower Vítkovice complex, while Jihlava will open the gates of a former grain warehouse from the 1920s. In České Budějovice, guides will try to convince visitors that even socialist architecture could be of high quality. Zlín, for instance, will offer a trip in search of sacred buildings.

Most of the events during the Day of Architecture are free of charge. Interested parties can find detailed programs on the website www.denarchitektury.cz.
