Břeclav - The city hall in Břeclav plans to build a new funeral hall for 20 million crowns. The old ceremonial hall is a disgrace to the city and has been the target of criticism from the residents of Břeclav for several years, said the mayor of the city, Pavel Dominik (For the Region), to ČTK today. Construction is expected to begin next year, with completion planned for 2017. On average, there are 15 ceremonies per month in Břeclav, added city hall spokesman Jiří Holobrádek.

"The ceremonial hall is outdated and does not meet aesthetic standards, primarily in terms of functionality," stated Dominik. The idea for the construction of a new ceremonial hall has been around for more than five years. "A request was made for a study to be created. Three architects presented their proposals, but the situation did not noticeably progress during the last electoral term," said Holobrádek.
However, the construction of the new hall is included in the current city council’s program statement. "That is why we invited all three architects to present their proposals to the council again. We unanimously decided to use the study by Libor Foukala. We will now work on the project documentation for the zoning decision, building permit, and the implementation project documentation," informed Dominik.
By mid-2016, the city hall wants to obtain a building permit and start a tender for the contractor. "We will include the hall's construction among the investment projects in the city budget for 2016. We should complete it in 2017," added Dominik. The costs are estimated at 20 million crowns. "We will look for ways to secure funding for this project from grant titles," added the mayor.
