Pardubice - The Automatic Mills on the bank of the Chrudimka River in Pardubice have been purchased from Goodmills by Prague architect Lukáš Smetana and his wife Mariana. He will wait for the detailed project until the regulatory and spatial plan of the city changes, wrote Pardubice's MF Dnes in today's edition.
"I have a vision that I would like to start changing the mills around 2020. However, the plans are still evolving in several directions," said the architect.
The Pardubice mills, designed by Josef Gočár, ceased flour production three years ago. The owner of the buildings was unsuccessfully looking for a buyer for the complex. Last year, there was a chance that the town hall would buy the complex.
The real estate company Naxos offered the mills on its website at a recommended price of 25 million crowns. Just for this amount, however, the councilors rejected the purchase of the complex designed by architect Josef Gočár.
"I don't want to comment too much for now. Everything is very fresh, and the necessary administrative procedure at the cadastral office is not yet fully completed," said Smetana.
The first building in Pardubice by architect Josef Gočár was constructed between 1909 and 1911. In the 1920s, it was expanded with a new silo, connected to the older part by a bridge. Some parts of the buildings were decorated with an attic that resembles a castle battlement. In the 1960s, the left riverside wing was extended with a four-story annex.
