A private university of architecture is currently being prepared in Prague, offering instruction in English - Architectural Institute in Prague (ARCHIP). Last year, an application was submitted for state approval and accreditation of the Bachelor's degree program in Architecture. The relevant administrative proceedings are taking place at the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports of the Czech Republic, and the study program has already been discussed by the Accreditation Commission and was recommended for approval at the end of January. The intention to establish a new school of architecture in Prague originated in 2005 among a group of architects including Martin Roubík (1949-2008) and Regina Loukotová, who will lead ARCHIP. The school will operate on an international basis, emphasizing the participation of foreign students and teachers. With its size (approximately 60 students per year) and focus, it will suitably complement existing institutions offering architecture studies in the Czech Republic, thereby expanding the range of options for applicants interested in this field of study. ARCHIP will also function as a platform for architecture, engaging in educational and publishing activities. The school will be in contact with both the professional and wider public, as well as with domestic and foreign institutions of a similar focus. ARCHIP will be located in the premises of the Trade Fair Palace in Prague 7-Holešovice, which is a significant and heritage-protected example of functionalist architecture. An information desk will also be opened in the Trade Fair Palace in the near future. Other important information and details (accreditation, study plan, teachers, admission process, study conditions, etc.) will be published based on the outcome of the administrative proceedings at the Ministry of Education. A basic presentation of the plan and also current updates on its development are available at www.archip.eu.
