Ústí nad Orlicí - Ústí nad Orlicí is preparing to sell the former administrative building in the area of the former textile factory Perla 01. It does not have enough money for its renovation and utilization. Expert opinions and tender conditions are currently being prepared, said Mayor Petr Hájek (Oušťáci Association) to ČTK.

"We have signed a brokerage agreement with a realtor who is mapping the situation and preparing the materials for the tender. This will take place in the second half of this year," Hájek stated.

The city's budget is burdened by the construction of a children's and youth center in the former Perla. Its construction began last year, with costs exceeding 91 million crowns. Ústí took out a loan for the construction, which is set to be completed in December 2021.

Ústí will also sell a plot of land in the area, where a private entity plans to build a rehabilitation center with a polyclinic. The investor offered 2.36 million crowns, including VAT, for the area of 1,035 square meters in the tender.

The former textile factory was located on more than three hectares in the city center. The city purchased the area for 30 million crowns in 2011. Two years later, the town hall announced an architectural competition, then issued a zoning plan, and in 2017 and 2018 demolished production halls and other structures that occupied more than 80 percent of the area. The city intends to keep only a smaller part of the area. The Pardubice region plans to build studios for a secondary school of applied arts on a part of the area of the former factory.
