Ústí nad Orlicí – The former administrative building of the textile company Perla at plant 06 in the Hylváty district of Ústí nad Orlicí could be converted into an apartment building. The city hall is exploring whether it could be transformed into starter apartments. The city acquired the building through insolvency proceedings after the company's bankruptcy.
"We are mapping out what the costs would be. It may not be the most suitable location for housing, but we are considering it," said the mayor of Ústí nad Orlicí, Petr Hájek (Oušťáci association), to ČTK.
The city has been unable to find an alternative use for the building for ten years. Recently, it had a new survey of the building and its structural examination conducted. Next year, an investment plan will be developed, based on which the city leadership will decide on the next steps. "Unfortunately, there are no subsidies for this type of apartments; they are provided for senior housing and social housing," Hájek stated.
Ústí nad Orlicí is also preparing the revitalization of a panel housing estate in the Hylváty area. The city hall had a study proposal prepared, and people could choose from two options. The city plans to obtain a subsidy for the renovation of the housing estate, and the work may be divided into stages based on complexity. Before that, it will insulate the buildings.
