Mělník - The new Mělník zoning plan is meant to help address the issues. There are several disputes surrounding its preparation, which is why Mayor Ctirad Mikeš (My City) wants to involve the opposition. A specific councilor will be elected by his colleagues at the May meeting, Mikeš told ČTK. Various authorities and also residents will still be commenting on the prepared zoning plan.
Last year, the city suspended work on the zoning plan due to disputes regarding the buildability of the land; now preparations have resumed. The lands that are currently planned to be buildable will retain the same status in the upcoming plan. "I believe it will return to how it should be," Mikeš stated. According to Mikeš, the city does not want to devalue the land for citizens, and any complications will be addressed individually.
The priorities in the new zoning plan include the protection of valuable agricultural land, infill development primarily in the current construction areas, not further expansion of the city, protection and restoration of vineyards, and the expansion of green spaces.
Some councilors want to maintain the old zoning plan and supplement it, but the mayor stated that it contains more than 150 changes and no longer meets the original concept. The mayor also suggested to the councilors who criticize the preparation to adjust the assignment, but the councilors did not approve it.
The zoning plan is a document that is supposed to guide the development of the city; it can limit construction based on various criteria. According to the Building Act, the new plan must be in place by 2020.
