Mělník - The residents of Mělník can submit suggestions to the city hall for the transformation of Charles IV Square until mid-May. The city plans to build a multifunctional library in the former service building, among other things. An energy assessment is currently being prepared for the reconstruction of the building. The renovation of the interior, which the public can also comment on, will be preceded by a repair of the building's shell to make its operation more economical. Helena Vavřinová, the spokesperson for the Mělník town hall, informed ČTK about this.
Construction work on the library should begin within a year, and the city will seek a grant for the investment of over 15 million crowns. The library is expected to include, for example, a café, a family center, a cinema where films for veterans will be screened, and possibly a room for so-called escape games. Mothers with children, seniors, students, and adults should all find something for themselves. "The space should be活ing from morning to evening," the spokesperson stated.
In the coming years, Mělník plans to transform the entire square, which will cost several tens of millions of crowns. Among other things, the city must demolish a building known as Tehran. Instead of parking spaces, there could be a meeting area, and parking will take place at the site of the demolished structure. Mělník will manage a budget of over 300 million crowns this year.
