Pardubice - The completion of třídy Míru in Pardubice is expected within two weeks. The construction company had to eliminate hundreds of defects. The work was originally supposed to be finished by the end of February. The mayor, Martin Charvát (ANO), told ČTK today. During the first handover, representatives of the construction supervision found around 500 defects. Even the second time, everything was not in order. For example, the city wanted to repave the granite pavement, which did not have the correct slope for rainwater drainage. "On Monday was the third attempt, during which the defects were significantly reduced to minor cosmetic issues, such as fine-tuning the joints that do not hinder use," said the mayor. By the beginning of April, třída Míru should be completely finished, and trolleybuses will run on it. In the project assigned by the previous city hall leadership, the construction work at the end of třídy Míru near náměstí Republiky and the Magnum skyscraper was not included, which now must be completed by the Služby města Pardubic, the mayor added. "Despite the initial doubts mainly last September, when it seemed we would have a subpar třída Míru, I am happy that we can take it over properly," said the mayor. Třída Míru is the largest shopping street in the city. It includes the Grand shopping center, designed by architect Josef Gočár, and an Art Deco-style passage designed by Ladislav Machoň. The repair of the street had been a long-term topic for politicians. Initially, the street was supposed to be pedestrian-only, but then the councilors changed their minds and partially allowed public transport to operate. "We will see if we let trolleybuses run here in five years or not," said the mayor. Given that the municipality is financing the investment of 120 million crowns also with European subsidies, it must not change the project regarding the operation of public transport for five years. The construction work began last March.
