Prague - Deputy Prime Minister for Digitalization and Minister for Regional Development Ivan Bartoš (Pirates) promised today at a government meeting further development of the system for digital building management. The system is expected to be more user-friendly for building authorities, and automation should also increase. The builder's portal will also be developed. Bartoš said this evening at a press conference. The implementation of the system has been accompanied by problems, and the coalition's TOP 09 has called for coalition discussions because of it.
Bartoš admitted that the launch of the new system at the beginning of July was "somewhat awkward", but the situation is improving, according to him. Almost all building authorities have now logged into the system, except for nine small ones. The number of applications submitted through the builder's portal is increasing, as is the proportion of pending applications from the authorities.
According to Bartoš, the Ministry for Regional Development and the system providers will focus on further development of the system, which is not comfortable for building authorities. "We will supplement some requested functionalities towards automation, increasing work comfort," said the deputy prime minister. He stated that it is not only about solving the main problems by the end of August, but also about the future development of the system. "It is important for the system to start functioning at full capacity so that we can accelerate the building process, and for the building law itself, which speeds up the permitting of constructions, to be supported by this digitalization," Bartoš said.
The launch of the digitized system is accompanied by problems that, according to some previous statements from coalition politicians, are serious enough that if the Ministry for Regional Development does not resolve them by the end of August, Bartoš should take responsibility. The deputy prime minister faced criticism today regarding the building process even in the Senate. The upper chamber of Parliament urged the Ministry for Regional Development to consider establishing a crisis manager and a working group with representatives of building authorities or the chamber of architects. Senators warned during a roughly three-hour debate of possible economic consequences, the departure of employees from building authorities, and potential lawsuits against the state for damages.
