Kuks (Trutnovsko) - Construction work on the repairs of the Baroque hospital Kuks in the Trutnov region is progressing at full speed thanks to favorable weather. The renovation of the monument, which will cost 266 million crowns excluding VAT, is expected to be completed by this December. The monument will be accessible to visitors during the renovation season, said custodian Libor Švec to ČTK. "I must say that the weather has been exceptionally favorable for construction since June, when the work began. For example, it is now possible to continue with work that would have to be interrupted during the freezing winter," Švec said. Workers have already completed the sewer systems and are working in the interiors, on the roofs, and in other areas. Restorers are also working on the site. Construction work is continuing in the garden, thanks to the favorable weather. About a hundred people are working on the site daily. The repairs of the hospital are part of the Kuks - Pomegranate project, which consists of several smaller constructions. The project plans to create an educational center in the renovated spaces at Kuks, and restoration is also planned for the garden behind the hospital. The storage and library of the Kuks convent should also be made accessible. The Baroque complex in Kuks was started by František Antonín Špork in 1692. Construction peaked around 1710. Of the originally extensive spa complex, only the hospital with the Church of the Holy Trinity and the crypt have been preserved to this day. The castle and some other buildings were lost during floods and a fire. Braun's sculptural decoration of the complex is world-famous.
