On Wednesday, January 24, 2018, at 7:00 PM, a lecture by Polish architect Maciej Miłobędzki from the Warsaw studio JEMS Architekci, established in 1988 and currently one of the most significant Polish design offices, will take place at CAMP (Center for Architecture and Urban Planning), Vyšehradská 51. His projects have received numerous awards.
The lecture by Maciej Miłobędzki is held on the occasion of an exhibition of JEMS studio projects at the National Technical Library in Prague's Dejvice (December 13, 2017 - January 28, 2018).
The lecture will present selected projects built in recent years, as well as designs that were not realized. It primarily concerns public buildings, set in a diverse cultural and social context. The diverse relationships between public space in cities and the interior environments of buildings, as well as the interaction of architecture and its users, will be the main theme of the presentation. The exhibition, like the lecture, is titled "Amid". As Maciej Miłobędzki says: “The title of the lecture reflects the character of our work, which always oscillates between conditionality – embedding buildings in a broadly understood context, and attempts to capture the independent potential of architecture that lies within itself… For several years we have been working with several architectural themes and motifs – modified, developed, and applied in projects of varying scales, with different budgets and for various purposes; these motifs are, however, so universal that they allow for a reflection on architecture as such, its potential to create places that give meaning to human actions.” The lecture is held in cooperation with the Polish Institute in Prague and the Architecture Cabinet in Ostrava. The lecture will be conducted in English and admission is free.
