In Berlin in 2021, FAR Frohn&Rojas built a modern panel house that aims to showcase the possibilities of rapid, affordable, and modifiable construction in cities. This project, named Wohnregal, also earned them a nomination for the Mies van der Rohe Award.
The second example is the recently completed conversion of former office spaces in the industrial part of Paris by DATA Architectes, who placed a control center for the transportation company on the lower floors and designed a total of 58 affordable apartments with balconies and terraces on the upper levels for better views.
The third approach is demonstrated by Peris+Toral Arquitectes in a courtyard wooden structure with 85 social housing units near Barcelona. The quality housing and ample space in the green interior courtyard also brought the project among the finalists for the Mies van der Rohe Award 2022.
The individual realizations will be presented by architects Marc Frohn from FAR Frohn&Rojas, Colin Reynier from DATA Architectes, and José Toral from Peris+Toral Arquitectes.
