The lecture will be held in English without interpretation

Building a national library is no small feat. Helsinki succeeded in 2018 after twenty years of planning, design, and construction. It is called OODI and its authors are architects from the Finnish studio ALA, who conceived it as the living room of the nation. Among their other significant works are the theater and concert hall in the city of Kristiansand in southern Norway and the theater in the Finnish city of Lappeenranta near the border with Russia. And when the architects from ALA are not designing cultural buildings, they work on infrastructure projects — such as the Helsinki metro or airport terminal. In the lecture, the studio will present one of its founders — Antti Nousjoki, who has gained experience at the office of OMA Rem Koolhaas.
