We invite you to the launch of the lecture series November Talks2022 at the Faculty of Architecture of CTU. The first lecture will be presented on November 7, 2022 at 6:00 PM by Winy Maas, founder of MVRDV and currently a visiting professor at FA CTU. The lecture is held under the auspices of the Dutch Embassy in the Czech Republic.
Winy Maas is a Dutch architect, landscape architect, and urban planner. He is a co-founder of the studio MVRDV (together with Jacob van Rijs and Nathalie de Vries), a globally operating architectural office recognized for its innovative and experimental approach to architecture of buildings, cities, and landscapes. Among the studio's most notable projects are the Dutch Pavilion at Expo 2000 in Hanover, the Rotterdam Markthal, and the Glass Farm in Schijndel. His portfolio also includes several master plans, including the vision of the future of Greater Paris, the left bank in Bordeaux, and the waterfront in Oslo.
Winy Maas is a professor at TU Delft, where he founded the institute The Why Factory in 2008, which explores possibilities for the development of future cities. His lecture "The Future City: What’s next" will focus on this very topic: “I am convinced that ideas can profoundly influence our world. Big dreams, no matter how unattainable they may seem, can have a larger impact than small, easily achievable goals.”
November Talks 2022 will take place over four November Mondays, every time at 6:00 PM – November 7 (Winy Maas), November 14 (Alice Cabaret), November 21 (Karen Cook), and November 28 (Carlo Ratti) – in lecture hall 155 Gočár / 105 Kotěra (Winy Maas), Faculty of Architecture CTU, Thákurova 9, Prague 6.
Lectures in English are intended for the general public, entry is free and barrier-free. The lecture will be streamed on YouTube FA. A welcome drink combined with an informal meeting with the speakers will be prepared from 5:30 PM.
The November Talks series has been supported by the Sto Foundation since 2006 and takes place at selected European schools of architecture.
