The first lecture of the already seventh cycle titled "What is Architecture?" will take place on Thursday, October 3, 2019, from 6:00 PM in Studio D at the Faculty of Civil Engineering, CTU in Prague. The lecture will be given by Zdeněk Fránek from Brno.
prof. Ing. arch. Zdeněk Fránek (*1961 Boskovice) after studying at the Faculty of Architecture VUT in Brno worked at the UH&A in Blansko, founded the company Fránek Architects in 1989, and is currently engaged in design, publication, and teaching activities both at home and abroad. As an educator, he has worked at FA VUT Brno (external lecturer), VŠB TU Ostrava, ARCHIP Prague, and FUA TU in Liberec. He habilitated in 2008 at AVU in Prague, completed a professorial procedure at VŠUP Prague in 2011, and was the dean of FUA TU in Liberec from 2012-2018. He currently teaches at FA CTU in Prague. He has realized a number of exhibitions, including in 2007 the exhibition Perspectives at the Jaroslav Fragner Gallery in Prague, 2011-12 the exhibition Intestines of Architecture at the House of Art in the City of Brno, in 2012 at the CCC Gallery in Beijing, and several solo exhibitions in Litomyšl, Boskovice, Blansko, Zlín, Pelhřimov, Ghent, Utrecht, Hildesheim, and Vienna. He has lectured for professionals and students at universities in the Czech Republic – AVU, VŠUP, CTU, KU, VUT Brno, VŠB Ostrava, UTB Zlín, and others. Abroad, he has lectured, among others, at universities in Ghent, Utrecht, Hildesheim, New Delhi, Beijing, and Santiago de Chile.
