Unexpected participation in the summer architectural-sculptural symposium at the sawmill in Sadská prompted us to reflect on the topic of larger-scale wooden structures. A revision of construction systems and principles led to the design of a rotational hyperboloid. Structures of this type were commonly used in the early 19th century for engineering buildings, although in steel or concrete material execution.
In principle, however, it had to be a wooden structure, and therefore we decided to conduct an experiment, and within two weeks we realized a test building made of larch boards.
The construction required 4m³ of larch boards with a profile of 140 x 30mm and approximately 100kg of steel connection materials. The assembled structure is based on recycled concrete prefabricates. A big thank you goes to everyone who contributed to the construction in any way.
