Špindlerův Mlýn - In the Krkonoš Mountains, the construction of the new Petrova bouda continues; builders were able to start working on the site after the winter break following Easter. The rough construction with a roof, including window installation, is to be fully completed in 2017. Martin Havlík from the company Snowy Chalet, which is the project's investor, said this to ČTK today.
For example, in May, workers were working on the load-bearing structure of the third floor, and stonemasons were chiseling stone for facade cladding. "In June, construction continued with concrete laying and partition wall building. Openings and facade elements are also being produced," the company Snowy Chalet informed on its website, which also features photos from the construction.
The construction of Petrova bouda, which consists of two buildings, began in May 2016, with complete completion scheduled for the end of 2019, with estimated costs of 120 million crowns. The original Petrova bouda consisted of a trio of buildings. Since 2008, the deteriorating lodge for tourists has been closed, and according to some experts, there was a risk that it would collapse due to poor technical condition. On August 1, 2011, a large fire destroyed the building. According to firefighters, the fire was set intentionally; however, the police did not identify the perpetrator and closed the case.
The new Petrovka is expected to have 62 beds. In the larger four-story building A, which connects with the basic block mass of three above-ground floors to the state of the building in 1887, there should be 52 beds, of which 12 in a dormitory and 40 in the accommodation section. In the smaller one-story building B with an attic, ten beds are counted in its accommodation section. Part of building B will also serve as a checkpoint for tourists, and it will also include a shelter with continuous operation.
