Chomutov - Work has begun in Chomutov on the demolition of the hotel by Kamencové Lake. The selected company is clearing the site and will subsequently demolish the building. It is expected to be completed in January. Petr Budský, chairman of the board of the company Mapeco Most, which won the contract from the town hall, said this to ČTK today. Most of the costs will be covered by Chomutov from a grant from the Ministry for Regional Development.

Hotel U Jezera served as accommodation for workers and later as a lower-category hotel. Since the end of its operation, it has deteriorated, and the city had no use for the building from the 1970s. The hotel is adjacent to the popular recreational area of Kamencové Lake, and nearby is one of the entrances to the Podkrušnohorský Zoo Park. During the season, hundreds of people passed by it daily.

The three-story red building and the low white building will initially be cleared by the selected company's workers and then demolished. The demolition must be carried out carefully, as the low building is adjacent to the boiler house, which must be preserved, since it supplies heat to another building that is not part of the demolition.

The price including VAT is according to the contract for work 3.6 million crowns. The estimated value of the contract was 12.6 million crowns. All work is expected to be completed by the company within 17 weeks from the start date, thus by January 2018.

What will be created on the site of the hotel and what the surroundings of the lake will look like should be designed by architects. The town hall is preparing to announce an architectural competition, the subject of which will be the solution of spaces in the recreational area.
