Uherský Brod - The Town Hall in Uherský Brod is preparing to repair Příčná and Úzká streets in the city center. It will cost approximately six million crowns. The work should be completed by the end of October, said Mayor Patrik Kunčar (KDU-ŠL) to ČTK.

The alleys connect Masaryk Square and Mariánské Square from north to south and busy streets Hradišťská and Moravská from west to east. According to the mayor, their reconstruction will include the replacement of public lighting, sewers, and also the repaving of the surface, which will now be made of granite. "It should be quite elegant spaces, which they are not at the moment. It is a pity because it is in the immediate center of the city," said Kunčar.

The town hall recently announced a new tender for the construction contractor. The results of a previously completed competition had to be canceled because the winning company withdrew from the contract due to the workload of its workers. "Therefore, we have slightly relaxed the construction deadline so as not to stress the companies that they must start immediately and finish as soon as possible. We have only limited them to the duration of the implementation, which should be about 12 weeks. They can start anytime from April to August," the mayor stated. However, according to him, the reconstruction must be completed by the end of October.

The town hall has named the alleys Golden Cross. This year, according to the town hall’s plans, an artwork should also appear in them, most likely a relief in the pavement. The city also wants to repair the façade of the gym that stands at the corner of both streets. "We have also discussed with the owners of the surrounding properties that it would be nice if they would repair the façades of adjacent buildings," added Kunčar. The costs of repairing the streets will be covered by the city from its budget.
