Třeboň (Jindřichohradecko) - Třeboň will operate with a deficit budget next year. The city's income is expected to be 312 million crowns and expenses 452 million crowns. The reason for the deficit is mainly the investment in the reconstruction of the Aurora spa, for which the city council will allocate approximately 123 million crowns from the budget, said the mayor of the town, Jiří Houdek (KDU-ČSL).
"Pavilions A and B are awaiting repairs. This will mainly involve window replacement, insulation, and renewal of sanitary facilities," said Houdek. The reconstruction will also slightly increase the capacity of the spa, which currently stands at 450 places. The renovation began in November and according to Houdek, it should be completed by May next year.
Due to the investment in the Aurora spa, Třeboň has taken out a loan of 90 million crowns, which it aims to repay by the end of the election term. "The remaining part for the reconstruction will then be released from our reserves," said the mayor.
The Třeboň spa, which includes not only Aurora but also Bertiny baths, regularly attracts thousands of tourists to the town. For example, in 2010, both facilities were visited by over 30,000 guests. The spa focuses on the treatment of the musculoskeletal system; the main therapeutic methods are peat baths and wraps. In addition to therapeutic stays, they also offer relaxation and wellness services.
Třeboň plans to invest about 12 million crowns from the budget next year into the adjustment of the Exhibition Hall Under the Tower, where a puppet theater is supposed to start performing. Furthermore, the town hall intends to connect the building with the J. K. Tyl Theater and the Beseda cultural house. "This will create a cohesive cultural complex," said Houdek.
