Pardubice - The Tyršovy Sady in Pardubice will not start renovations in the near future. The Brno company DIS, which won the public competition, officially withdrew from the contract. This was confirmed to ČTK by the mayor of the city, Štěpánka Fraňková (Association for Pardubice). The project, which is supposed to be largely funded by European Union funds, is facing significant delays. There is a risk that the subsidy will not be fully utilized. "The company DIS argued that the project documentation is incomplete, specifically the permint to cut down trees. However, we should have that in September, and it was planned that if some trees would not be cut down, the project could easily be adjusted via change orders," said deputy mayor Martin Bílek, who is a construction expert. No one from DIS Brno was available today to comment on the reasons for the withdrawal from the contract. For Tyršovy Sady, this means one thing - if the project moves forward, it will be delayed. The new tender that the city is starting to prepare will again have to go through the city council, which must approve it along with the final project price. "All of this stems from the Public Procurement Act. The minimum delay is four to five months. If everything were to go extremely quickly, Tyršovy Sady could be completed not in August next year as planned, but in December," stated Bílek. Even that may not be sufficient for the subsidy to be utilized. The project to restore Tyršovy Sady has many supporters in Pardubice, but also opponents. Several thousand people signed a petition against it, and a calendar of events was created to preserve the park in its current form. There was also a demonstration in front of the Pardubice city hall. However, the councilors ultimately supported the project, and demolition work was supposed to begin in the park in the first half of July.
