Brno - The Brno City Hall wants to obtain a building permit this year for the long-planned parking garage on Žlutý kopec near the Masaryk Cancer Institute (MOÚ). Currently, work is being done to address the opinions of the affected authorities and it is waiting for an expert opinion to resolve the land issue with the institute. Zdeňka Obalilová from the city hall's press department told ČTK. There has been a long-term parking problem in the area, and the six-story building will offer 222 spaces.
The project, which is still in the preparation phase, was discussed by the city council during their meeting on Wednesday. They approved a contract with the Office for Representation of the State in Property Affairs, which owns the land affected by the construction. "Water supply connections, a unified sewer system, and traffic connections to the local road will run through here. The contract establishes the creation of an easement for a compensation of 117,700 crowns," Obalilová stated. After addressing the opinions of the affected authorities, the city plans to apply for a building permit. "We believe we will obtain it this year," she added.
Representatives of MOÚ previously stated that according to qualified estimates, there is a shortage of at least 300 to 350 parking spaces in its vicinity. Some parking spots have also temporarily disappeared due to construction work in the area. However, the situation is expected to improve next year when MOÚ completes two new centers.
