On the Red Hill, the demolition of the long-term care facility will begin

Brno - Demolition of the former long-term care hospital on Červený kopec in Brno will begin for three million crowns. The demolition work is expected to be completed within four months of the handover of the construction site, said deputy mayor Petr Hladík (KDU-ČSL) to reporters today. A new socio-medical complex for people who can no longer take care of themselves will be built in its place. The planned capacity is about 200 beds in three pavilions. The city estimates the construction costs at 350 million, with construction potentially starting in 2022 and completion by 2024.

"We plan to create residential social care facilities here that will allow for healthcare services to be provided at the level of a long-term care hospital," said Mayor Markéta Vaňková (ODS).

The newly built facilities will provide clients with conditions as similar as possible to a home environment, where they will have access to nursing, rehabilitation, or palliative care. "The facilities will be used by people recovering from strokes, oncology patients, or people with cognitive function disorders. For example, care will be provided for patients suffering from Alzheimer's or Parkinson's disease," said Hladík. The council has already selected a contractor for the project documentation for 30 million crowns.
