Brno wants to build a social-health complex in Červený kopec for 735 million

Brno – Brno plans to build a socio-health complex on Červený kopec for 735 million crowns. About 85 percent should be covered by subsidies, said Mayor Markéta Vaňková to reporters. The complex will offer around 150 beds for people who need both social and health care, such as those with Alzheimer's or Parkinson's disease. The project includes 51 parking spaces.

Today, the council recommended that the representatives approve the assessment of this project and its inclusion in the city budget. "We have been preparing the socio-health complex for some time. This type of service is missing in the city. Although we have long-term care facilities, people who no longer need health care on such a level but do not meet the criteria for admission to senior homes cannot stay there," Vaňková stated.

The complex could serve, for example, people with Alzheimer’s or Parkinson’s disease. Currently, project preparation is underway, which could be completed by the end of July this year. "The complex has three separate pavilions that will be connected by a single-story entrance hall," said the mayor's deputy Petr Hladík (KDU-ČSL). According to him, a green roof is planned, which will help cool the surroundings on hot days and provide necessary insulation in winter. "The pavilions will have facilities for patients, doctors' offices, nurses' workrooms, rehabilitation rooms, a chapel, and spaces for day care," Hladík said.

The project includes the construction of 51 parking spaces. Of the total costs of 735.7 million crowns, 85 percent should be covered by subsidies. The city would thus pay just under 160 million.

The area on Červený kopec has served since the 1960s as a long-term care facility. However, it is now in poor condition, and the operation of the LDN has ended there.
