On Friday, September 26, 2014, the tenth anniversary PechaKucha Night will take place in Pilsen. At the traditional time of 8:20 PM, we will meet at a currently secret, not generally accessible location, which will be gradually revealed in small hints on the PechaKucha Night Pilsen Facebook page and on the website. The official unveiling of the location will occur on September 24. Tickets can be purchased in advance at www.pknp.cz for a price of 120 CZK or on the day of the event at the venue for 150 CZK.
Throughout the evening, ten presenters will have the opportunity to showcase their creative work, projects, or activities. In the classic format of 20 images for 20 seconds, Petra Herotová, finalist of the Jindřich Chalupecký Award, sculptor Pavel Karous, who was involved in the inception of the artistic project Aliens and Herons, Marta Lajnerová from the Miniměsto project or a city for children, Monika Drápalová, a successful fashion designer and current overall winner of the Czech Grand Design, along with young Czech designer Alex Monhartová, whose goal is to transform classic men's accessories into modern minimalist and functional artifacts, climber with Pilsen roots Jan Trávníček, who conquered K2, representative of the Ironing Ladies project Jan Roháč, Canadian storyboard artist Kurt van der Basch, who contributed to projects like Cloud Atlas or Wanted, director of the Pilsen 2015 company Jiří Suchánek, and last but not least Vít Klusák, a well-known Czech director, producer, and cameraman, creator of the films Czech Dream and Czech Peace.
“The tenth anniversary PechaKucha Night needs to be truly grand. Therefore, we are preparing an accompanying program and a birthday afterparty. Since PechaKucha is really extraordinary in its series, we have also prepared an unconventional venue for visitors, which we will gradually reveal,” says Alice Slavíčková, coordinator of PechaKucha Night Pilsen.
The accompanying program will start on Wednesday, September 24, at the Hvězda cinema, where the N.O.H.A. group will perform. Thursday will feature the first Silent party in Pilsen, in collaboration with Blink Excellent. The three-day event will culminate in [pechakucha] and a subsequent official afterparty called X party, featuring both Czech and foreign DJs, among which City Mutants (Chris Vern & Vitek Skop), Bass Drop Crew djs (MagNet / Ollie Torr / Low Tact / Zlej produkt), or DJ Pixie are worth mentioning. Refreshments will be provided by Bar to the World and the Live Street bar.
PechaKucha Night in Pilsen is organized by the civic association to the world., whose main goal is to revitalize public space and connect people across the entire spectrum of their focus and activities. However, this event would not have been possible without the support of the European Capital of Culture. “Pilsen 2015’s contribution to the tenth PechaKucha Night will be dedicated to the main highlights of next year's program, and we will also introduce the spaces of the former Depot, which we will newly use for cultural events,” adds Jiří Sulženko, program director of the European Capital of Culture.
