Kino Hvězda will reopen to the public after 17 long years
It will have its finale on Friday, May 23, with the occasion of the 9th PechaKucha Night. At 8:20 PM, a series of presentations will start, showcasing architects, designers, graphic artists, and other creatives in the format of 20 slides x 20 seconds. Among others, documentary filmmaker and slam poetry pioneer Bohdan Bláhovec, designer Jan Čapek, and photographer Kristina Hrabětová — winners of the Czech Grand Design awards for 2013 — have confirmed their participation. You can also look forward to the refined Bar k světu. and especially to the afterparty where Skečbetl: Paintjam will take place — an illustrator's digital battle with no rules and a 90-minute limit between Filip Štorch and Triệu Phi Long. The party will also feature a performance by DJ Nakash and VJ Jan Kubíček. Remaining tickets will be made available for sale on-site on the day of the event starting at 6:30 PM.
The whole event is organized by the association k světu., which has decided to use the space of the former Kino Hvězda not just for one evening. “On the weekend of May 24 and 25, we have prepared a cinema café for visitors with screenings of documentary films presented at the One World festival. Additionally, on Sunday there will be a discussion with Vít Klusák, a prominent Czech documentary filmmaker,” adds the coordinator of Plzeň's PechaKucha Night, Jitka Jirásková.
The partner of Plzeň's PechaKucha Night is Plzeň 2015.
