Brno - Brno wants to start one of the three phases of the reconstruction of Údolní Street this autumn. The repair of the section from Úvoz Street to the turn-off to the swimming pool at Kraví hora will cost 160 million crowns. The city will pay for it. This was stated today by the mayor's deputy responsible for investments Richard Mrázek (ANO) to journalists. Engineering networks and the roadway will be replaced. For another section, the city is updating the documents.

The phase from Úvoz to Kraví hora has a valid zoning decision, and additional work on the project documentation is being completed. This also includes solutions for detours. "The construction includes a complete replacement of engineering networks such as sewage, water supply, gas, and electricity. This will be followed by the replacement of the tram track and the reconstruction of the overhead lines, as well as a complete surface adjustment including sidewalks and roadways, parking spaces, and greenery," listed Mrázek.

The condition of the street is poor. "Technically, it is in an unsatisfactory state. Trams run there and they are noisy. Today we already use a different type of track bed, which will reduce noise and improve people's lives. Where possible, we will also incorporate more greenery so that the street is not so concrete," added Mrázek. The work will take about a year.

In addition, the city is preparing renovations of two more sections. One part is from Husova Street to Úvoz, and the other at the tram loop at náměstí Míru. The councillors of Brno today commissioned an update of the traffic solution for the part of the street from the center from Husova Street towards Úvoz. According to them, the original documentation from 2008 needs to be updated. "The goal of the zoning study is to verify possible variants for the street space in accordance with the current requirements of the affected organizations and the city district. Based on professional assessment and discussion of variants, the final variant will be determined, which will be used for the preparation of project documentation for this phase," added Mrázek.

Brno plans to repair other important streets for hundreds of millions of crowns. These include Benešova, Štefánikova, or Veveří. In the past, it has already repaired Milady Horákové, Horova, and Minsk streets for hundreds of millions of crowns.
