Brno - Brno wants to start the reconstruction of a part of Údolní Street from the intersection with Úvoz to Kraví hora by the end of this year. The mayor's deputy Richard Mrázek (ANO) said this to reporters today. The estimated costs are 225 million crowns, but the competition can reduce this. The city will replace engineering networks and repair the roads.

Brno's councilors approved today the start of a competition to select the company that will carry out the work. The section from Úvoz to Kraví hora is one of the originally three planned phases. Another includes the stretch from Úvoz on the opposite side to Husova Street, with the third supposed to be the reconstruction of Míru Square, but this phase has currently been removed from the plans by the magistrate . "The city district of Brno-Centrum is addressing the concept of how the square should look," noted Mrázek.

According to him, the condition of the street is poor. The construction plans include the complete replacement of engineering networks, such as sewage, water supply, gas, and electricity. This will be followed by the replacement of the tram tracks, reconstruction of the traction line, and complete surface adjustments including sidewalks and roads, parking, and greenery. "We would like to sign the contract sometime at the end of October so that we can start construction by the end of the year. Earthworks can take place even during winter, provided there are no severe frosts. We want it to be finished by the end of 2018 at the latest," added Mrázek.

Brno also wants to repair other important streets for hundreds of millions of crowns. This includes Benešova, Štefánikova, or Veveří. In the past, it has already repaired Milady Horákové, Horova, and Minská streets for hundreds of millions of crowns.
